Hi,
Is it possible to have system sounds (themes) ala Win xp, 7 osX?
i seem to only have one sound when the computer boots up (the ubuntu sound i believe)
Sounds like when you empty the trash or click on menus, or shut down etc... i right click on Z start button and go to preferences and change sound themes to default, but i see no where to change individual sounds?
Thanks again for this awesome OS i know this isn't show stopping stuff by any means, but just trying to make it as window or mac like as i can to get more people to try it.

Hi Thomas,

for more themes go here:

The only way to adjust the login sound is through a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t):

Thanks for the reply and links, i checked out both links and these explain how to change just the login sound, i'm looking for a way to get all the sounds from a theme working?
Currently the only sound that works is when the computer boots into the OS, how do you enable all the sounds for a theme?
Example: like when you empty the trash, or click on the menu, max and min windows, error messages etc...
The sounds are there in the: usr/share/sounds/zorin/stereo folder, i would imagine all the sounds in this folder are for the Zorin theme? (as there is an Ubuntu folder full of sounds as well.
So my question is how do i enable or activate all these sounds so i actually here them when i click on things and open things and empty trash etc...
As of now just the login Ubuntu sound is all that is working. ( i understand you can load new themes w new sounds, i would be just happy getting all of the Zorin sounds working)
Thanks, loving Zorin OS

Interesting thread here - but when I ran the two files after attempting to install the *canberra package (already present) and 'sox' (which wasn't) the system sounds only apply to the menu - no sound anywhere else:

I followed the directions on that link and this is the error i get in terminal when i enter what he posted:
Property "/Net/EnableInputFeedbackSounds" does not exist on channel "xsettings". If a new property should be created, use the --create option.
?
Thanks

Hi Thomas,

to change the login sound, you just need to move a new sound file (must be in .ogg format) to this folder ( /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo ) and change the part "desktop-login" into the name of the new sound file. - See more at: http://www.linuxandlife.com/2012/05/how ... sound.html

Thanks for the reply wolf, i dont actually want to change the logon sound, i would like to know how to enable all the system sounds in the:
usr/share/sounds/zorin/stereo folder so for example when you empty the trash it makes a sound or when you minimize or maximize a window it makes a sound, or when click on the menu it makes a noise or error message sound or when you log off it makes a sound.
The only sound that works is the start up sound.
Does anyone know how to enable "all" the system sounds? not just the start up sound, or is it even possible?
Thanks.
