Made a mistake on the last post. Using Zorin OS 7.1 32 bit desktop edition, not version 8.1. When I turn on my computer, it runs a software updater. Lately, the message reads "failed to download repository information." It has been doing this the last few weeks. Tried to update with terminal using sudo apt-get update and get this error message "Some index files failed to download they have been ignored, or old ones used instead." Do i need to change to a different repository and if so which one? Thank you.

It seems you have some entries in your /etc/apt/sources.list that point to repositories that don't exists anymore. Try commenting out any entries that caused an error and then run apt-get update again.
can you post the sources.list here so we can see what the problem is? May be you could get them from a different server? Or they could be out dated and not needed.
