Root password - what is it?

Edit: after researching on this topic for a longer while and desperately trying to get my pc working again, I decided to give up and do a last-resort option. This involved reinstalling Zorin. It works now. So no more help is needed on this topic =)

Before I start, please note thatcI am quite frustrated right now. So this post may not be as civil as what is usual on this forum. It may also contain more typos that normal because Im writing this on an iPad.

I need the password for the root account. I spent a few hours googling for it, but none helped. At all.

I cannof use sudo. Thats what I need it for, sudo doesnt work, and I found out how to fix it but I need the root password.

I need the password. I do not need nor want any answers suggesting a workaround. The password, just the password, nothing else.

I realize that logging on as root has the potentional to ruin my system with a single typo. I realize. But I still need the root password.

So what is the password?

Edit: also, what I am trying to do in the first place is fix a serious error that prevents me from starting my computer. It just gives me the failsafeX screen every single time, no matter what I do, even in recovery mode trying to initiate the failsafeX screen myself. Please do not try to help me with that. All I want is the root password.

Edit2: Oh and its the default onecsince I dont recall setting a root password during installation. I dont even recall being asked to do so...

Hi,

the root password is the password you typed when installing the system, whatever you typed is what you should be punching in!, if you typed fred1234, then fred1234 is the PW!.

Try doing a PW reset:

Hope it helps. :D

Hi,

root login is blocked by default, you should not use it:
