[SOLVED] Can't enable Wi-Fi on Zorin OS8 Installation

Hello folks,

The Wi-Fi-Icon does not show up and I need help getting it to work, because Internet is vital.

Here is what I already did:

Synaptic -> Reload -> Mark all upgrades -> Update everything to latest Version.

Then I restarted and:

Synaptic -> Settings -> Repositories -> Additional Drivers

And there does appear a Broadcom Corporation: BCM43142 802.11b/g/n. Which Zorin says it is not working.
If I enable the Driver I get this message:
Image

But it stays at "Appyling changes" I waited nearly 2 hours and the progress bar is not changing.

Here is some data, that I got, while using some of the recommended terminal commands from another thread:

I used this commands:
lspci -nn | grep 0280
lsusb
sudo lshw -c network
sudo rfkill list all

from this thread:

Thank you for any help.

Hi and welcome to Zorin! :D

Please wait for our resident expert on wi-fi, madvinegar, to respond.

Plug an ethernet cable to get internet, open terminal and run the following 3 commands:

sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source
sudo modprobe -r wl
sudo modprobe wl

After 5-6 seconds check network manager to see if you can pick up wireless networks.
A reboot may be required.
