Hi all,

After installing Zorin OS 9 Core, i like to add a second taskbar (dock) on top of my desktop.
So when i rightklick in the Zorin taskbar (in the middle) and shoose for preferences (voorkeuren in Dutch) a new window open to manage the dock preferences, but there is no add buton to add a new dock on top
see this picture:

What should i do to get a second dock?

I'm at work - not sure you can do this with AWN - if not installed already, install Docky and move that to a favourite place on screen. :D

not sure you can do this with AWN

In Zorin OS 8 was that possible, see picture:

there was a add button
but in Zorin OS 9 the button is no more

i just look in the system, but don' t know where to look for Docky and i can not find it.
So maybe i have to install Docky
should i install from the software centre or from synaptic packet manager?
Or should i choose to install from the command line?
Can i keep the Zorin taskbar and in addition add a dock on top from Docky?

install from software centre -- search for dock top 2 are cairo-dock and docky. my pref is cairo-dock but I do have both installed but use only cairo-dock

I only mentioned Docky as it is pretty stable - Cairo-Dock is the prettier of the two and needs a lot of tweaking.

As for which way to install it is all down to personal preference. The software centre is not always up-to-date - I remember installing an application once and warned that an 'older' version was present in the software centre/er - no thanks! :D

Thanks for the information, i downlaoded Cairo-Dock. Looks good.
But i wonder why we can't add a dock with AWN, because in a previous version of Zorin we could do that.

That's a question for AZorin and zorink - I suspect that as it is:

1. The Gateway for Windows users, the Zorins don't want to create confusion.

2. Can you see if when running MacOSX or Gnome Classic if you can create extra panels/docks in that layout? :D

When i change with the look changer to Gnome 2 there is no AWN then, i can't right klick on the taskbar.
So the AWN tools only appear in the Windows XP and Windows 7 look.

That is true but in Gnome 2 you can add an extra panel! ;)

Right click the top (or bottom panel) and select 'add panel'! ;)

ooops! my bad - I was making assumptions before trying - forgot I was in LXLE when posting - so they have got rid of that too!

Nope, won't work here on Gnome 2 look. Can't right klick, nothing appears to choose from, no quick menu to see.

Hi just edited my last posting!

Update: If you have Ultimate (or Educational) the MacOSX look (which basically uses Docky) can add other 'Docks':

i see, so maybe next week i buy the Ultimate Zorin OS 9, things got easyer then.

but now for my dutch readers i need to explain how to add a second taskbar, so they got to download docky or cairo-dock.
It won't work with AWN.

If thats for sure i can close this topic then.
