Gnome Screensaver Not Working

I can't even find it in a search of the Zorin 9 system, although it does show
as installed in Synaptic.

So I installed xscreensaver and it works fine, but I wan't to know why
the default screensaver doesn't work.

When I installed xscreensaver there was a prompt to turn off the Gnome
version before xscreensaver would run, which seemed odd.

Any ideas about this? I prefer the Gnome version but also would like
to know why this is happening.

Hi, the screensaver as such is no longer applicable to most systems - that is why it comes under:

Menu | System Tools | System Settings | Brightness & Lock - all you get is a screen blanker!

Okay thanks, but I want the choices to spin down the disk, power down on lid closing, etc.
