Different Zorin OS 9 Lite versions?

Good afternoon Zorin Team,

Both Lite and Edu Lite have 2 versions.

One version has "-a" at the end of the file name.

What is the difference between each of the 2 versions of Lite and Edu Lite?

Thanks, Michael.

Hi, I have posted a similar answer to this with regards the 'Core' version. '-a' simply means all updates (including any kernel updates) will be present in the '-a' version (as I see it). Await to be corrected by Admins. :D

In the official site there is only one version of each.
Download it from the official site.

I downloaded the -a version of Lite that was listed on DistroWatch. The -a appears to mean minus add-ons, which means you then have to download the add-ons if you want them. So if you want the add-ons, don't download the -a version.

Again, why download the distro from Distrowatch and not from the official Zorin site...???

And why doesn't somebody from the Zorin team clear up any confusion by updating the posting on the DistroWatch website and their own website and explain what each version is?

Both the DistroWatch website and Zorin's "Free editions" page link to the Source Forge repository.

One should be able to expect that the information, posted on the Distro Watch site, mirrors that of the Zorin website.

Some people may actually have been monitoring the following page and hence wonder what the 2 versions of each distro are.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/zorin-os/files/9/

And if they have bandwidth restrictions, they don't want to be downloading 1 version only to discover later that it was the other version that they wanted.

We have released versions of the Zorin OS .iso files for use in countries where software patents are recognised.
The -a versions of the Zorin OS .iso files are the versions without the codecs (and other software which may infringe on various software patents) preinstalled. They are accessible by clicking the link in the Disclaimer at the bottom of the download page for the Free editions and are given to Premium customers in the applicable countries.
