Updates in Zorin OS9

Sometimes when updates are ready to be downloaded,Zorin asks for authentication before downloading.Other times it just downloads without asking.Just wondering why.Not a problem,just an inconvenience.Thanks.Norm

It asks for a password when you haven't given a password in a while. If you input your password it saves it for 15 minutes the same applies to sudo in the terminal. (And as always there are exceptions to this rule.)
