zorin 9 trouble with vmware player

Hello everyone, I am in vmware player and I have installed fresh a clean install of zorin 9. However, I have an issue. My start menu does not allow me to shut down! It appears below the taskbar. I have searched google and could not find a solution. I also notice the right hand side notification icons disappear as well. I have not messed with any settings, or have done anything. I simply open firefox, browse for a little bit and then this happens. I have checked and installed updates. It seems to happen regardless over a little bit of time.

What happens if you remove and reinstall AWN?

Code:
sudo  apt-get purge avant-window-navigator && sudo apt-get install avant-window-navigator

Hi, my next suggestion might be to run Zorin VM in safe graphics mode - ensure you have wired network access and run 'dpkg' for it to check what packages are missing to get you back from where you started. I must admit I had forgotten that it has been repackaged differently and put this down to how Zorin have put it together (could be wrong) - you may want to give Docky or Cairo-Dock a whirl. You may need to add Precise PPA repository to access avant-window-navigator then take a look at modifying the panel how I did it! ;)

Thanks for your response, ha. Is there an english version?

I am just starting out with linux really and I have no idea how to do the above.

Safe graphics mode?

It is just odd that it worked fine when I originally installed it everything was fine. I am going to try a reinstall.

Sorry, it used to say that - choose second option in GRUB and choose Advanced options! :D

When you reinstall, when you see the blue screen with keyboard = accessibility, press space bar and you will be instantly taken to the F2 option to choose your language, F3 to choose your keyboard's locale (language) then F6 and try seeing what happens when you select 'nomodeset'. :D

You may also want to follow decalman's excellent text install guide here:
