Installing router drivers?

I need to buy a router for my PC, and no doubt the router will come with an installation cd with drivers for windows on it. Will i be able to just plug and play any new router i get or will i have to install the drivers off the cd someway?

Hi, normally you may have to run hardware updates on Windows (not tried in GNU/Linux as the machine that is connected directly to the router only has Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate on) as for connecting to the interface you just need to connect via your browser - can highly recommend the ASUS ones - they come with 3 years warranty compared to Netgear which has become very stingy only offering 12 months!
