scrambled VGA out ATI x300

Falstaff

Mon Sep 29, 2014 3:34:46 pm

recently installed OS9 along side XP ..HP laptop, ATI Mobility Radeon X300 video

everything runs superb, except when I hook the VGA out up to my HDTV
both screens become scrambled - I've tried loading ATI drivers, which froze the lap (took them out)
So now I'm back to scrambled screens (also tried fn-f4, no luck)
I can tell by the mouse movement that the screens are not mirrored (HDTV left, Lap screen right)
And I can't see anything on the lap screen in order to modify settings with the HDTV hooked up

any help?!? thx

Can I do this without the HDTV VGA being hooked up?

All I can say is, give it a try - I don't have such a set up so unable to advise. ;)

Command line without VGA plugged in "output VGA not found"
Tried again on the blind. Wrote the first command line out ..plugged in the VGA (screens scrambled) hit Enter..screens stayed scrambled :(

Is there a way to purge out all vid drivers and reinstall from scratch?
Sorry , Linux newbie

Hi, you could try decalman's command line install - it has worked for others:
