I first noticed this problem in Zorin OS6 Ultimate, and it still occurs with my new installation of Zorin OS9 Ultimate.
I have Conky Lua installed and 2 GB of RAM. When I first turn on my laptop, I notice I'm using about 24% of RAM. When I open the Firefox browser, I'm about 50% (it can vary depending on how many tabs I have open and what's on the page). If I leave the machine on over 24 hours, I find that RAM usage increases to 90+% and even proceeds to use swap memory.
If I close Firefox after this has happened, the RAM usage will decline to about 55%, and Conky Lua still indicates that some swap memory is being used, even when I have no other programs running. The only way to drop the usage is to restart my computer.
My question is this: Is there some way I can stop the RAM usage from increasing? What might Zorin OS be running in the background that I can turn off without jeopardizing system performance so that this doesn't happen?
