I just downloaded theis file GnomishDark.tar.gz new theme and would like to install it How do i got about it. As you can tell I am a newbie with linux

Go to [ home ]
When you have the home window open.
Press [ CTRL + H ] to bring up hidden folders.
Make sure you have a [ .themes ] folder in front of you.
The [ Gomish Dark Theme ] needs to be placed/unzipped into the [ .themes ] folder.
Icon Themes go into the [ .icons ] folder.
GTK Themes go into the [ .themes ] folder.
Remember the only way to view these folders....
By having the [ Home ] window open.... then pressing [ CTRL + H ] to view the hidden folders.

You right click the file and select extract here. Inside it there must me two folders. One for the icons and one for the theme.
You copy/paste the icon file inside ~/.icons
You copy/paste the theme file inside ~/.theme
You use a program like ubuntu tweak to select the new theme.
P.S. The folders /.icons and /.theme are hidden files inside your Home folder. You must press ctrl+H to see them.

Got tho home , pressed ctl+h to bring hidden files did see icon forlder but no theme.

Right click on your mouse and make a new [ .themes ] folder.
Then add whatever themes you want to use.
