[RESOLVED] ZorinOS 9 Lite does not wake from suspend

I'm running Zorin OS 9 Lite on an older Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop (ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 video card). When waking from Suspend, the screen displays a bunch of colored lines and blocks, rather than the desktop, requiring a hard reboot. All else works like a charm, but this issue is driving me up the wall.

No guarantees, but a possible solution?:

(and yes I am aware it is in respect of 12.04!)

That looks like a possible solution! However, I fiddled around myself and came up with an alternative (albeit a more blunt approach) - disable suspend entirely! I simply deselected "suspend" in all of the power management options, then followed the instructions in Richard Hansen's post here. Ta-da! Suspend is disabled (and removed from the system menu as an option).
