Why would the Zorin OS work fine on an older computer but when loaded into a newer computer [Dell Inspiron 3646] I get jerky sound on DS clock and jerky windows as they come into view? Any workable solutions appreciated... thanks.

Hi,

do a full sytem update with the following terminal command and then restart your PC:

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -f

Thanks will try -- tried, still have problem. Thinking about downloading Zorin 9 OS 64 bit, currently using 7 with 32 bit...

Zorin 7 is no longer supported! It was a development release, in much the same way as the version of Ubuntu it was based on - you should only be running Zorin 6 or Zorin 9 - both Long Term releases - excludes Zorin Lite! ;)

Thanks... I erased the partition contents and enlarged it, and tried to boot Zorin 9 OS from live DVD, but just got unknown filesystem grub rescue... can't make machine open either OS 7 or OS 9 live DVDs now... Can boot Windows 8.1 partition in UEFI mode [have to use legacy to even get live DVD player recognized]...

Hi,

can you at least see the menu of the Zorin disk?.

Take a look here:

Thanks... I can see the disk menu from Windows 8.1, but I did not see anything that would get it to load, etc. I will look at link you gave...
