Running Zorin from USB on Dell Inspiron 3521

My parents are pretty computer illiterate and have a Windows 8 laptop with two user accounts. One of them tends to get bogged down with malware. I posted on a couple other Linux forums and someone recommended Zorin. My mom is afraid to have me just replace their Win 8 OS. It's running fine for my dad booting from the USB stick...but when my mom wants to use her Win 8 account and removes the stick, it's not booting properly without my going and resetting the boot stuff to UEFI secure boot, etc.

I'm not all that savvy myself, so I'm not sure how to handle this -- is there a set of settings I can use in their bios / boot settings that will boot from USB when the USB drive is present, and otherwise, will boot Win 8 from the hard drive properly?

Would appreciate any help. Thanks a lot.
