Zorin 9 WiFi hookup issue

Greetings Tribe! Hope you had a good holiday.

I can't get my WiFi to engage. It knows a strong signal is present but the arrows on the AWN bar keep spinning and the "Connect" button on the Authentication box with the password line never highlights for selection.

I know I've got the right network selected and the hardware works because the WiFi is OK with XP (on the same machine).

What can I try? Please be specific.

It's a Micron TransPort-1300e
1 gig memory
Processor: Intel Core 2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83GHz x 2
Graphics: Intel 945GM x86/MMX/SSE2
32-bit
57.8 gig hard drive

Can you remind me how to find out what the WiFi hardware is?
