I downloaded gpointing device but it will not open. I tried opening it as an Adm. but I get "Zorin9 is experiencing an internal error"
How can I fix this?

OK, try this next.

1. Boot into 'Advanced Mode' and choose the 'safe mode' of second option in GRUB.

2. Make sure you have a solid internet connection (preferably wired) and select DPKG - this checks or any missing dependencies - after it has completed, DO NOT select resume - instead power off and reboot.

3. After boot make sure system is up-to-date by entering in a terminal (Ctrl+ Alt+ T) and enter:

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Keep us posted.

Finally, your machine (Notebook?) does it have a Fn function to disable the touchpad? Could this be the issue? :D

Thx but it didn't help. I tried opening pointing device as the adm. and it said Zorin was experiencing an internal error
-This a desk top computer
Here's some more info that might help. When I first open Zorin the pointer will go from acting normally to erratic to almost stopping then back to normal
- I very much appreciate your help - Hope we all have a good New Year!

The issue I'm having is not with the mouse.
My problem is I downloaded gpointing device and it does not open. I also downloaded the necessary packages as you suggested on 12/29/14

What is the best way to control (slow down) the scroll on my mouse. With each click it jumps about 5 or 6 lines..
Still unable to open pointing device program.

The only thing I can think of is for your to install 'dconf-tools' via the terminal (Ctrl+ Alt+ T):

Code:
sudo apt-get install dconf-tools

This places 'dConf Editor' in Menu | System Tools.

How to get to where you need to be is given here:

Scroll down to the second answer.

I downloaded it. So now under Systen Tools I have "dconf Editor" . When I click on it, it opens a big white dead page that has nothing to click on or any fillable fields ??

You should at least see some headings in a left-hand pane - beginning to sound like a corrupt install - Did you download without using a 'Download Accelerator'? If you did use a Download Accelerator it could have lead to a corrupt download - did you check the md5sum of the image? (http://winmd5.com) and did you burn at the slowest speed your DVD burner will allow, using imgburn? (https://ninite.com) - utilities section of page.

Hi,

it is possible that your problem is related to updates/missing dependencies, please make sure your system is fully up-to-date:
