All of a sudden all icons on my desktop have disappeared (Zorin 9.1). Has somebody any idea what the reason could be?

Install gnome-tweak-tool via a terminal (Ctrl+ Alt+ T) and enter:

Code:
sudo apt-get gnome-tweak-tool

then check your settings here after launching 'Tweak Tool' in Menu | System Tools | Preferences:

Tried that - throws an error:
E: Invalid operation gnome-tweak-tool

Any other choices?

Oops - found it: just use the Software Center instead of the terminal.

Must have been a typo you entered? Wherever you see a post in here in 'Code' with 'select all' you can copy it directly into your terminal. ;)

Hi Swarfendor437,
It was my question. Before I could even react on your advise albinard took the initiative. I will try to do what you said.

I had the same error as Albinard showed. No typo. I installed the tweak tool from the software ctr. Then it appeared that the desired settings were already there. The last 4 or 5 occationsl that I started my PC, before and after installing the tweak tool, all icons were there. I still don't understand
what the reason for this phenomena is. Hopefully the problem is over. Thanks.
