Hi,
I'm attemting to do an install on an old (Pentium 4, AMI Bios) computer and the system doesn't seem to think that it can boot from the dvd I've burned (zorin-os-9-core-32.iso). I've set the boot order and also tested that the machine will boot from an old XP DVD. Any suggestions gratefully received.

1. You downloaded from the link from http://www.zorin-os.com? http://www.zorin-os.com/free.html

or here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/zorin-os/files/9/

2. You used Firefox or Opera to download the .iso

3. Did you download WITHOUT using a download accelerator - if you did use a Download Accelerator it can cause corrupt .iso files?

4. Did you check the md5 sum of the .iso you downloaded for integrity? (http://www.winmd5.com)

5. You burned the image to DVD at the slowest possible speed your Burner can cope with? (e.g., some will not go below 4x but if yours supports 1x then burn at that speed)

6. If burning in Windows you only used 'imgburn' (download from https://ninite.com)

:D

Thank you Swarfendor and Wolfman, I can confirm that I followed all of your points except that I didn't use imgburn. However I tried my dvd in a newer machine , also without success. I've copied a sentence from the instructions here: "4. Press the Enter key to start the LiveDVD, this is a thing that lets you run the operating system off the DVD without installing it onto your computer." I can't see LiveDVD on the DVD, but maybe it's called something else? Maybe you could clarify this point before I delve any further.

Hi,

the "LiveCD" is the whole thing, you are running a live CD (DVD) when you boot from the disk, the first line should read something like "Try Zorin OS without installing". Did you just copy the downloaded ISO image file to a DVD or did you follow these instructions and create a bootable live disk?:
