Greetings,

Apologies if that has been answered. I did a search for xrdp and "remote desktop" with no joy.
The question is does Zorin (Ultimate) support remote desktop from Windows without any add-ons?

I have added xrdp and tightvncserver, but when I remote login in I just get the "hatch" pattern with an 'X' cursor and the desktop does not get served.

Does anyone have this working? And what did you do?

thank you

Well Remmina that comes with Zorin does not have a Windows equivalent. I have used TeamViewer (http://www.teamviewer.com/en/index.aspx) successfully to install software on a clients Windows 8 machine over the internet. Very recently picked up a magazine to briefly take a look at the best solution (which is paid for) and that is NX. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NX_technology#License)

I am using Teamviewer, but I think the problem isthe Zorin Desktop is 3D and that does not work properly. I have tried to install LXDE, but not sure what needs to be in the .xsession file in the home directory? This is a big nuisance that remote desktop does not work easily from Windows to Zorin. So for now, I am using Teamviewer, but I would prefer the standard Windows remote desktop client. If anyone has any more insight, I would appreciate it. thank you.

Well, this article describes the solution. You do need to install a 2D desktop.

You must also install a vnc server. I used titghtvncserver

Now I can use the standard Windows remote desktop client
