Hi alpha1 its not your memory/RAM its your disk space, you need to free up some space (Bleachbit is good - you can find it in Software Center) also you could uninstall any programs/games you dont use then you should be able to update :)

Hi,

can you paste your partition layout here so we can see how much space you have dedicated to Linux!.

You should have a swap, root and home partition!.

See partition guide here:

Well you appear to have a big problem:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions ... ks-801871/

You need to format your drive completely and start afresh using the manual method - check out the second half of my vimeo dual boot install in respect of preping for zorin:

I concur with what Swarf says!.

Again I point you to the partition guide and Swarfs links for more info on how to achieve that!.

You should have a swap, root and home partition!.

Hi A1,

your swap partition should be the same size as your RAM, lets say you have 4GB RAM, then your swap partition should be 4096MB and no larger!.

You have around 39GB for swap at the moment!.

I think alpha 1 you misread my PM - as Wolfman stated 4096! :D

Hi A1,

me again, I have just noticed that you only have 2GB RAM (Mem), your swap is about 9GB's, it isn't that much of a biggy but you really should do the layout as suggested by the partitioning guide, your swap should be: 2048MB (2GB) in size!.

Yes Not a problem this CD has been used to install the system before and burned at 2x speed the slowest using K3b
I have allowed it to run over night - still no inprovment
the only thing that i feel i can now do is to burn it again and see how that goes.
But i am not hopefull.

Hi,

if you still have the ISO file (or download a fresh copy), try a USB install if you have a spare USB stick, DON'T FORGET TO FULLY FORMAT THE STICK FIRST!:

Hi Guys update as to how things are progressing

Ok new download Zorin Core 9
Transfered iso to USB stick
System boots up great
Now installing
Set new partition no problem
but i am have a feeling that it will not work as i have been sitting at-

"Feb10 23:21:20 zorin-os user Setup: Enter your mount passphrase [leave blank to generate one]:

now for some time no further forwad than before with the CD option.

I think i am having the worst time ever, for bad luck but i will go on.
So do we have a plan C going forward? Guys your experties will be gratley apprechated.
