[SOLVED] Default File Manager

Hi. How do i change the default file manager in Zorin OS9 from Nautilus to Nemo 2.2? I've tried several tutorials/walkthroughs to do that in Ubuntu 14.04 but none of them seem to work for Zorin OS9. Is there a reason for this? I want Nemo for the dual pane view (i know, drag a window to the edge of the screen and then CTRL+N but just pressing F3 is so much more convenient) and the Menu bar, which in Zorin OS9 Nautilus seems to have lost. Thx.

Hi,

if you install Nemo, it will bring in all the Cinnamon packages with it, you can remove Nautilus at the same time but what adverse affect this would have on your desktop is anybodies guess!. :D

If you want to try it with this terminal command (Ctrl + Alt + t) you can, but remember you have been warned!:

Code:
sudo apt-get install nemo && sudo apt-get remove nautilus

Should you have problems, boot into recovery mode and activate "Network" (Network cable connection required) then go to "root" and just reverse the command:

Code:
sudo apt-get install nautilus && sudo apt-get remove nemo

Well, you scared me, Wolfman! After your posting i didn't want to lose my desktop so instead i did an apt-get update followed by a dist-upgrade, logged out then back in and, lo, Nemo (which was already installed) has come up as default manager. (Didn't remove Nautilus and had previously put 'xdg-mime default nemo.desktop inode/directory application/x-gnome-saved-search' into a terminal.) Not my own work - i got it from here: http://www.webupd8.org/2013/10/install- ... s-and.html, and didn't install any of the Nemo/Cinammon extensions. My desktop is therefore intact. Whew! Thx.

Good website ( http://www.webupd8.org/ ), I visit it almost every day!. I never even thought about leaving Nautilus intact. Nice one!. :D
