Hi,

This is my first post, I would love to know how to view my Windows Phone (Nokia Lumia 1520) as a part of the file system. I connect it via the normal USB method and my computer recognises it but will not show any of the files. I rely on this to transfer music/movies/files to my device. I am currently running Zorin OS 9 and would like to keep a linux system but if I can't simply communicate with a mobile device then I will have no choice to revert back to a Windows OS.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

take a look here:

and:

You could try running Windows from a virtual machine (Virtual Box) and use it that way:

Hi Wolfman,

I have tried gMTP before with no success but this is the problem I am having now.

I followed the post that had the most successes.
Found that there were some items that were missing when I inputed the update sequence.
Saved the new rules file but am unsure how to reload the rules.

Like I said, I am a novice when it comes to Linux but am willing to learn.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi,

I have searched the net but cannot find much more than what I already posted above, that said, I looked through Synaptic and found a couple of packages that might aid you, install the following packages via a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t) if you haven't already done so:

Code:
sudo apt-get install mtpfs mtp-tools

Restart with your phone plugged in to your PC and see if it helps!. :D
