[SOLVED] Unity greeter?

I want to change the hideous black clunky log-in greeter that comes with Zorin OS9 with the Unity-like greeter that came with Zorin OS 6.4. I tried KDM Settings Manager which nearly did for my PC again. Is there another way? Currently i'm using lightdm, which doesn't seem to be much difference from gdm. Thx.

Use gdm, to install via a terminal; use the following command:

Code:
sudo apt-get install gdm

The normal login manager is "Lightdm"!. :D

Have installed gdm & made it the default display manager - but can't work out/find out how to call it up? Does it have a GUI? What is the terminal command?

Hi,

gdm is the login window manager!. You cannot access it from your normal desktop!.

It will look like this:

or maybe this:

But its awful. Just a grey log in screen (like the graphic you posted above). It's worse than lightdm. Even my brief dalliance with kdm was slightly better. I know that there are gdm login screens you can use (http://gnome-look.org/?xcontentmode=150) - I don't know how to use them. Will they no longer work with Ubuntu 14.04 and up? :?:

Try MDM,

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/mint && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install mdm mdm-themes

Well, thx Wofman. This very nearly did my head in, especially when i got the mdm default log in theme. I did also use http://www.noobslab.com/2015/01/mdm-dis ... e-now.html and a bit of guesswork with the command line but this time haven't removed any of the files which came up in the terminal (apparently related to libreoffice for some reason). Last time i did that with kde and i trashed my rig; at least i've now got some mdm themes up and running to start with. Will try some more login themes soon. Thx again. 8-)
