[MOVED] Machine fails to suspend

Zorin OS 9 installed successfully on a Dell xps Laptop running Windows 7.
Zorin system will not suspend. I cannot make the machine suspend with the power button.
What to do?

Hi and Welcome! Have you done a full update after install?

Open a terminal (Ctrl+ Alt+ T) and enter:

Code:: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

You will be asked for your login password to elevate you to 'root' (Administrator) to carry this out - be warned - you won't see any asterisks so be careful when entering your password!
