Ok so I downloaded the free version of zorin today with high hopes of trying it but it will not install correctly. It boots into the setup menu which allows me to run from disc or full install but no matter what i choose, it goes to a black screen. I was really excited to try this distro and now i am really mad. :x. Ubuntu and Kubuntu both work, so why doesn't Zorin? My hardware specs are AMD A10 7850k, 1TB HDD, 8GB MEMORY and R9 280x gpu. Oh and Ubuntu/Kubuntu recognize my 280x gpu upon install which was really cool because i didn't feel like loathing the internet for a fix. Please Help!!!

Hi, when you see the 'accessibility logo = keyboard' press the spacebar. Then choose your preferred locale (language) then press F3 to select your keyboard layout, then F6 to select 'acpi=off' - if this does not work, reboot, and choose one of the other options when you select F6. After F6 selected, click on 'Try Zorin Live without installing' ;)

I tried each and every selection, one by one, for over an hour with no results.. What a disappointment!! I really wanted to try this distro.

Hi,

if you have an Nvidia graphics card, try the the "nomodeset" option:

i installed Zorin 9 core on a friends HP laptop and it works just fine for him. I'm thinking it may be a resolution problem as my native resolution runs at 1600+900. It's gotta be that or something related to UEFI. I've tried all that i know how to do. his laptop specs were amd athlon x2 (something) 2gb ram and 1366+768 screen. grrrrr.....

It's a basic computer i built from scratch. The hdd is a Western Digital 7200 rpm blue edition and i can't use Zorin Lite because i have 8gb of memory. Well i could use it but 2gb memory is not enough for me.

OK, can you press the tab key or E key at live boot time to edit the bootloader? Try adding these commands to the boot command:

Code:
acpi=off noapic nolapic nomodeset xforcevesa

I fixed the problem. Had to disable my 7850k intergraded gpu via bios.
