(SOLVED) Virtualbox Questions

I am totally green when it comes to linux and Zorin. I installed the latest version of the premium on my machine.

I am wanting to put winxp in virutalbox. I get an error in virutal box.

When I click on start I get the following error message:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine WinXP.
Implementation of the USB 2.0 controller not found!
Because the USB 2.0 controller state is part of the saved VM state, the VM cannot be started. To fix this problem, either install the 'Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack' or disable USB 2.0 support in the VM settings (VERR_NOT_FOUND).

Like I said I am very new to this so some help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I would search VBox site for the version that is compatible with Ubuntu 14.04 (that is what Zorin is a fork of) and add the matching extension pack - don't forget to enable 'promscuous' mode so that the virtual machine can access the hardware on your rig! :D

This tutorial (in 3 parts) may help:

I got it fixed and will say what I did so maybe it will help someone else with the same problems.

I un-installed virtualbox and the extension. I downloaded and installed virtualbox and the extension from the virtualbox website.

Once I had the install done virtualbox works great just like it should.

Thanks
