Hello everyone first time poster and was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem. Zorin support could not seem to find the solution so while they continue searching they asked that I post my problem up here.

My problem is that Zorin OS has a constant static sound while on it. Technically it could be argued that its not constant because it stops for about a 1/4th of a second then static for a 1/4 of a second continuously. if I lower the volume or am playing a video its not very bad but it is still very tedious after many hours.

This is not a problem with my sound system as my windows partition has no problem at all. This is what I have tried that support suggested.

1. Adjusting your sound settings by going to Start > System Settings > Sound
2. Updating the bios of the motherboard
3. followed the steps on the first answer on this forum with no results. http://www.ubuntulinuxguide.com/static- ... untu-1304/

here is my build.

Intel P9X79 pro motherboard
Intel Core i7-3930K Sandy Bridge-E 6-Core 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011 130W Desktop Processor BX80619i73930K
CORSAIR Hydro Series H100 (CWCH100) Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Nvidia GTX 970 graphics card.
EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 220-G2-0850-XR 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply Intel 4th Gen CPU Compatible
CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1600C1

I can imagine that some of this is unnecessary but I figured better to be thorough. Any help would be appreciated and thank you for your time.

Hi,

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4771

Did you install following the advice above?.

Have you done a complete system update?:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2247

Open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t) and paste the following command and then restart:

Code:
sudo apt-get install libsox-fmt-all faac flac paman

You will find paman (Pulse Audio Manager) under the sound and video menu. Make a link on your taskbar (panel) or desktop!!. Paman can be a handy tool!.
