I am trying to install Zorin alongside windows 8.1 Worked fine on my pc and my laptop but on my sons pc it goes through the normal startup, bluish screen comes on and I hit enter and his Install zorin os directly. Then it goes to a black screen with flashing curser and just stays there. I have tried installing with usb and tried another disk but still same thing. I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Got to keep Windows for our games otherwise we'd just use zoring all the time. Great OS! Thanks again. Matt

A few things - you will need to go into Windows 8.1 and make room for Zorin by letting it shrink the Windows Partition to create free space;

Disable 'fast boot' - this is in 'Power Management' - 'Advanced' settings - what this does is put the hard drive into a deep sleep - even when machine is switched off!

In BIOS you will need to disable UEFI and enable legacy boot!

See Matthew Moore's video on dual booting with Windows 8.1:
