I have windows 8.1 and i am putting Zorin core as dual boot, when i have done this before it has always asked if i want to load side by side with windows ,this time it only asks if i want to remove windows, is this now the normal way of doing things

No it is not but it might be a bit more tenuous - I can't remember if blfriis' posted on this or an article I viewed on line regarding Easy BCD which is where you have to tell the app which OS you want to boot into at next boot.

Things to try:

1. Boot into windows and shrink the existing 'C' (System Drive) using 'Disk Management' and select 'Shrink Drive'

2. Turn off 'Fast Boot in hidden Advanced Settings of Power Management of Windows - also check if there is a similar setting in your BIOS.

3. In BIOS, turn off Secure Boot and choose 'Legacy' boot.

Now take time out to view Matthew Moore's video here:

and mine (BUT based on dual boot with Windows 7):

Keep us posted!

Hi Swarfendor I don't remember anything about Easy BCD but maybe this can be useful. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2417361,00.asp

Hi blfriis - it might have been in that article or on tom's hardware - been awhile! ;)
