Have to renew IP address everytime I connect to a new networ

every time I connect to a new network, wlan0 or eth0, I have to run dhclient -r <device> && dhclient <device>. Any help would be appreciated, this is a huge annoyance.

Starting at square 1, when you connect to your home internet do you get a connection? As for new ones you will need to create different profiles for different connections, passwords etc, network names and edit network connections remembering to save same. Have you completed a post installation update?:

If you are still having issues can you reply with the results of this command.

Code:: cat /etc/network/interfaces

Just a wild guess, have you ever tried to set up static IP's on your machine?
