Hello everyone! I'm having trouble getting the sound output on my speakers. The headphones work but not the speakers, and the speakers work fine on Vista (I dual-booted). I've tried numerous solutions on Bing and still no sound. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Hi, Please take time to read Wolfman's excellent post installation guide, in particular the section on Sound:

Nope there is still no sound. I tried Alsamixer with everything unmuted and copied and pasted commands to no avail. I can see two drivers on the Sound Settings (one for output and input). My sound works great on Windows Vista and here on Zorin only the sound works on the headphones but not the speakers. I'm pretty much stumped here...

Have you tried installing PAMAN (Pulse Audio Manager) plus all the codecs as advised by Wolfman? :D

I am wondering if it is a bug as reported here:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/467936/u ... h-speakers

which has an unusual solution mentioned by one contributor.

Another interesting post here (but Windows 8.1 not Vista):

http://askubuntu.com/questions/511133/s ... hones-fine

and similar post here:

http://superuser.com/questions/732390/w ... -dual-boot

Before we get into issues around GNU/Linux I had issues with Windows 10 not picking up the correct audio channel! ;)

OK, if you noticed in that thread it states to report a bug, but you won't be able to submit it to Launchpad, instead, please PM eithe AZorin or zorink - the brothers behind the Distribution.

Hi,

try installing this meta package for codecs open the terminal with Ctrl + Al + t and make sure you have the speakers/headphones connected to the correct socket:

Code:
sudo apt-get install libav-tools flac faac faad sox ffmpeg2theora libmpeg2-4 uudeview mpeg3-utils mpegdemux liba52-dev mpeg2dec vorbis-tools id3v2 mpg321 mpg123 libflac++6 icedax lame libmad0 libjpeg-progs ubuntu-restricted-extras gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gxine libdvdread4 icedax tagtool easytag id3tool lame nautilus-script-audio-convert libmad0 mpg321 libavcodec-extra libxine2-all-plugins

Green = Speakers. Black = Headphones. Pink = Microphone

Hi, can't find issues specific to your particular system but can you see if this helps?:

Volume Control_001.png

To install the package "paman" using the terminal:

Code:
sudo apt-get install paman

You'll find pulse audio manager under Zorin Menu > Sound & Video. :D

My computer isn't a laptop its an all-in-one, and the mute thing unfortunately didn't work out. On my normal sound settings there are two outputs. One says "Digital Output (S/PDIF) Built-in Audio" and "Speakers Built-in Audio"

On Alsamixer I've marked off all the mute switches and I still don't have any output. Zorin Live Disk didn't work either.

"Speakers Built-in Audio" is at the bottom.

Yes there are two devices showing on the window and I've highlighted the bottom one and there is still no output. I even tried the top one and it still won't produce sound.

My BIOS does not display it. Also I checked and I'm sure the plugs are in the correct sockets. The sound works fine on Windows Vista.

Hi Wolfman, he can enter BIOS the sound just does not show up in there - I guess it is like that annoying habit of manufacturer's of netbooks that don't give the option to disable Wireless in the BIOS - it just does not exist! :(

Anyways thanks for all the help you guys, the only way to fix this issue was to plug in another set of external speakers with the Speakers Built-In Audio option selected on the Sound Options.

Again thanks for all the help I appreciate it!
