Hello everyone

I am a Zorin OS user for about 2-3 years
Few days ago I installed Zorin 10 core Ed + VLC 2.2.1. I have some issues as my Lenovo Thinkpad T420 is using all 4 cores at 100% when 1080p MKV file is played
On 9.1 with VLC 2.0.5 all cores were utilized at around 15-20%.
here are my laptop specs
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-2640M CPU @ 2.80GHz × 4 (SandyBridge)
8 GB RAM
Intel 530 SSD 60 GB + WD 750 GB 7200 RPM
Intel HD video card (2nd Gen)

Anyone had this issue?

Many thanks,
Bogdan

I have been playing around with Cairo-Dock on Zorin 10 and having issues generally - bit of a pyrrhic victory as whilst I can now use Windows Key to Launch GnoMenu I can not logout - only shut down!

I tried to open a screencast I made with VLC in Cairo-Dock and nothing. The design of 10 looks cool but I think I am ditching it for 9 which is LTS - Please be aware that Zorin 10 is based on 15.04 and as such will only 'survive' til January 2016.

I am sticking with 9 for now - it is more configurable to my needs (apart from some printing issues which I should check before ditching 10 - but I may change my mind!

[Updated: Typo - Zorin 10 is based on Ubntu 15.04 :D ]

Hi,

try installing the following package, via the terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t):

Code:
sudo apt-get install libxine2-all-plugins

and see if that helps!. :D
