Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the Linux scene, and my boss wants me to set up a small (2 computers) home office network using Zorin (which is what both are computers are running atm) We are both running Zorin 9, and what he wants me to do (basically) is connect a router to both our computers wirelessly, then connect an external hard drive to that router. Right now we are both wired into a router. The boss wants us to connect to a different router wirelessly so that we can file share through this hard drive that should be connected to the router.

A) Is this possible?
B) Possible downfalls?
C) anyone know of a step by step guide on how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I wouldn't use a wireless connection as you state you are setting it up at work and WiFi is a security risk for any business if you have sensitive data on your External drive!. :D (Just my opinion!).

Good point Wolfman - just to add that in the security settings of Zorin, it does support WPA2 Enterprise - you need to make sure that the router that will have the hard drive attached to it supports WPA-2 Enterprise - lot more secure than WPA-2 Personal - if you do use WPA-2 Enterprise you would then also need to make sure that any printers or other devices on the network are WPA-2 compliant. We had a situation at work where someone purchased a wireless printer before checking with the IT Department - costly mistake as it cannot be connected to WPA-2 Enterprise network! ;)
