Installation crash

When I installed the zorin os on my laptop, the installation crashed! It said there was a file that allowed it to boot up that was corrupted or missing, when I tried to download the program on this computer, and put it on my usb using uneboot, or whatever that thing is called, it didn't do it right, and the live run of the os would not work, what should I do? If you have an answer, please respond as soon as possible, because until then I am stuck using my moms old desktop!

Hi,

did you follow this advice when creating your bootable media?:

I followed the instructions the site gave for using a USB, but now I have yet another problem, when I finally got ahold of a portable cd reader, I found out my computer did not recognize it as a boot device and gave me this screen;
BOOT MANAGER
Boot Option Menu

UP and DOWN to select option. ENTER to select an option.

And then of course the cd I put In was not on the list!

I mean on the zorin-os.com site, not the forum site.

Did the machine come with Windows 10 preinstalled? :D

No, I installed it when it came out, it worked fine, but was slow, the machine originally had 8.1.

Hi, Silly me - how could I have forgotten this!:

This might be your best way forward for ease of install as it will use the UEFI settings in the BIOS.

What? I don't know what UEFI means, and you need an os to access BIOS settings. Plus the download did not work.

Firstly I can understand exactly what problems you are having.
Reason being those Notebooks mostly came with 4gb memory [ RAM ].
Other than the [ Netbooks ] that came with 2gb.
Not saying you made the mistake of putting 1gb memory in place of the other.
But to be blunt with the truth...1gb memory won't due nothing but choke the Notebook performance period.
Whether one uses Linux/Windows it doesn't matter.
You might have ran WIN8.1 on 1gb memory...but that would have been all
For 25.00 you can have the Notebook working once again the way it was intended.
The i3 architecture needs to have at least 4gb for it to perform and last.
You can get away with 2gb...but it wouldn't make real sense...being there is only a few dollars difference between the two.

Hi,

take a look here too as it may well be caused by UEFI settings!:
