password for updating

Hello........
I am having problems logging in to date, the system is asking for authentication and I get a failed error message(try internet connection) I think my password is correct but I could be wrong, how do you change password

I am wondering if you had a popup which asked for a keyring password? This might be the issue but when I used to use it I would always make it the same as logon password but not necessary to use this.
