Hi Michael,

Just read that thread - and you comments about music creation - you really should give AVLinux a run for its money - its last release even had hplip tools in place so you could print music scores off the fly using the live DVD/USB! The 'diehard' version cannot be downloaded from the creators 'bandshed.net' website as he is working on AVLinux2016 - but you can get AVLinux from Softpedia here:

;) :D

Another one is Musix 3.0 but not sure if it is fully secure with everything that has come to light with the Linux kernel of late.

Thank you Swarf, I'll check it out. I currently use Sonar. I'm waiting for Reaper to implement a notation feature, which it will be doing soon. Then I could run it in Wine. Reaper also is interested in running natively on Linux, but that would be farther off in time. At some point, I will need to migrate from Sonar, as my version is getting outdated, and I have no interest in upgrading. Or staying on windows any longer than I have to.

Sort of in the same thought....

I started my Windows studio running Cool Edit Pro (Adobe Audition), then moved to Sonar. Used it for a few projects before I tried Reaper, and found it much easier to work with. My last project was done in Reaper and I was very pleased. My current project is being tracked in Audacity and then mixed/mastered in Reaper. I, too, will be excited when Reaper comes to Linux, especially if they put out their own distro...."Reaper OS" has a nice ring to it!

Thanks for the mention of AV Linux. I saw it back a few years ago but thought it might be too bloated on the film/video side. Still, it could be the thing to knock Winders off the hard drive.....
