Feedback for ZorinOS 12.4 + Suggestions for Zorin OS 13

Hi! :)
I use ZorinOS 12.4 Lite on my very old computer (Pentium 4 2.8Ghz, 1,5GB RAM (512mb, +1GB upgrade), nVidia GeForce FX5200). It's very fast and I can use many new softwares for my old computer. There is still a problem for the GPU nVidia GeForce FX5200, I can't view correctly videos (YouTube for example) due to the nouveau driver. And I can't install the nVidia GeForce 173 driver in ZorinOS 12. Nvm, so personally, ZorinOS is the best distro of Linux, he works on many computers (and old-computers), I love it! :D ZorinOS is more better Windows 10. So I have many suggestions for the next version of ZorinOS: ZorinOS 13.

Some suggestions for ZorinOS 13 Lite:
-> New design of the User Interface:
- A new UI for the file explorer (Nautilius of Ubuntu 18.04 is great). If it's possible, add an Animated Aurora Preview Panel for the explorer like Windows Longhorn
- A new UI for the WIFI Menu, Calendar and the Sound Menu of the task bar (I will give an example)
- New modern design icons
- A new icon for the window button: Restore/Maximize (I will give an example)
- The start menu customizable (Switch from the black Start Menu to the white Start Menu or make it more transparency)
- Animations (Window animations, start menu animations, etc...)
- Some blur effect like Aero, or a new modern and design theme
- Possibility to change the theme of ZorinOS and have many themes for ZorinOS 13. For example switch to Modern Theme (ZorinOS 12 theme) to Aero (for example), or something like that.
- Possibility to change the theme of the cursor (easy method: GUI method, modifiable in Settings)

-> Speed up the Startup of ZorinOS
-> New features, like Desktop-Gadgets (like Windows Desktop-Gadgets of Windows 7 or Windows Side-Bar of Vista), or some cool stuffs
-> A new Apps Store, because the current apps store doesn't have enough apps, and a good home page.
-> Dynamic Theme: Day = Light theme, Night: Dark Mode/theme (a feature like macOS Mojave). (+Live-Day wallpaper like macOS Mojave for Core Edition)
-> If possible, the lite version will come the same day of the release of Zorin OS 13 Core, Ultimate.

So there are some examples:
Animated Aurora Preview Pannel : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnCM5z9JYBQ
Calendar Menu of the taskbar : http://imgur.com/kBPTvuyl.png
WIFI Menu of the taskbar (there are 4 images, they represents an animation with a color gradient : http://imgur.com/GuXxe4ol.png ; http://imgur.com/89AAldNl.png ; http://imgur.com/FWDep3el.png ; http://imgur.com/rxhpfurl.png

Thanks for reading! And again: ZorinOS is the best Linux distro! :D

Some suggestions for ZorinOS 13 Lite: We don't know if it will be 13 - If LTS it usually goes up in 3's but as it is a 'big leap' it might be 18 as it is based on 18.04 ;)
-> New design of the User Interface:
- A new UI for the file explorer (Nautilius of Ubuntu 18.04 is great). If it's possible, add an Animated Aurora Preview Panel for the explorer like Windows Longhorn Lite is based on xfce = Thunar File manager - if you installed Nautilus you would end up having to install Gnome DE in almost its entirety!
- A new UI for the WIFI Menu, Calendar and the Sound Menu of the task bar (I will give an example)
- New modern design icons Zorin already uses Paper (Apple-esque look) but I prefer 'hicolor'
- A new icon for the window button: Restore/Maximize (I will give an example) Use synaptic to search for xfce - install everything and see how long your window manager options become ;)
- The start menu customizable (Switch from the black Start Menu to the white Start Menu or make it more transparency) Go to Opendesktop.org and search for xfce themes :D
- Animations (Window animations, start menu animations, etc...) Not good for someone with accessibility issues!
- Some blur effect like Aero, or a new modern and design theme Install Cinnamon DE :D
- Possibility to change the theme of ZorinOS and have many themes for ZorinOS 13. For example switch to Modern Theme (ZorinOS 12 theme) to Aero (for example), or something like that. Cinnamon DE again! :D
- Possibility to change the theme of the cursor (easy method: GUI method, modifiable in Settings)You can already do this in settings, BUT you have to install the cursor theme to usr/share/icons first: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=13737#p61538

-> Speed up the Startup of ZorinOSThis will in part be dependent (in part) on how big the GNU/Linux kernel continues to grow
-> New features, like Desktop-Gadgets (like Windows Desktop-Gadgets of Windows 7 or Windows Side-Bar of Vista), or some cool stuffs Opendesktop or gnome-look.org :D
-> A new Apps Store, because the current apps store doesn't have enough apps, and a good home page. The next major release will be flatpak and snap ready (https://snapcraft.io) - but will still need Synaptic Package Manager for those little tweaks IMHO :D
-> Dynamic Theme: Day = Light theme, Night: Dark Mode/theme (a feature like macOS Mojave). (+Live-Day wallpaper like macOS Mojave for Core Edition) Install Enlightenment - and watch your Zorin Lite break big time!
-> If possible, the lite version will come the same day of the release of Zorin OS 13 Core, Ultimate. Core is the 'core business' of Zorin so I find that highly unlikely!

So there are some examples:
Animated Aurora Preview Pannel : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnCM5z9JYBQ
Calendar Menu of the taskbar : http://imgur.com/kBPTvuyl.png
WIFI Menu of the taskbar (there are 4 images, they represents an animation with a color gradient : http://imgur.com/GuXxe4ol.png ; http://imgur.com/89AAldNl.png ; http://imgur.com/FWDep3el.png ; http://imgur.com/rxhpfurl.png

Thanks, but when I said these suggestions, I know that: We can customize Linux (Zorin). But the user must add all customizations, add-ons, softwares etc...
So for the next version, I would like to have a new UI and new features without that the user should to install add-ons, softwares, etc...
And, I wouldn't like to install many softwares or customizations, maybe, someone who knows already Linux can modify the UI, but an user of Windows who switch to Linux, he can't/wouldn't like change the UI. A begginer of Linux would just an OS working, fast, and a beautifull interface.
You know some features of the next version of Zorin? :D

(I'm sorry for my bad english, I'm just french :D )

Bonjour mon ami,

I was just trying to point out that that is one of the great things about GNU/Linux is its relative ease of customisation. But I understand what you are saying. One thing that does not work well with Zorin Lite is Cairo Dock DE. I only know part of the plans via an online interview regarding the implementation of snap. Flatpak elements already appear to be being installed with updates but cannot readily see how it can implement Flatpak in Zorin.

Bon soir. And don't forget to visit:

Hi

Many thanks your observations which come at hand when the beta release of the next version is evaluated. Mind that Zorin OS has one of easiest learning curves of the linux distributions around. If you donate for Zorin Ultimate your environment is highly adaptable with the click of your cursor. The profile of most Zorin users is one finetuning at own preference and our OS features are aiming to provide just that.

I kept the item on sluggish boot-up time of Zorin so I wonder what is yours. Mine is without any optimalisation :)

Hi and thanks for answers!
So I tried Zorin OS 12.4 Ultimate x64 on an old computer (Intel Penitum D 2.8Ghz x64 2 Cores, 2GB Ram, GMA 945). This edition is just perfect! It's better than the lite version, why? The User Interface. The UI of Settings App, of the Startmenu, etc...are just amazing!

I can't wait for Zorin OS 13 (Or Zorin OS 18)! I want Zorin OS to be the OS that Windows could not be: If possible, I want some features of Longhorn, Longhorn is the most beautifull OS.

x)
So, you should try pre-reset builds like the build 4074, there is many modified ISOs with many bugs fixed and full Aero and Aurora Preview Panel working (Aero work with XP Driver lol, Microsoft wants to user to buy a new PC when Microsoft released Vista, Seven....)
