Forum Feedback - "Announcements"

It is nice to see the announcements, but it is really, really annoying when browsing a multi-page thread to have them show up at the top of every page. Why are Announcements not treated like any other forum (that is, one can visit it, or visit some other forum) and not displayed all the time?

The forum was not written by Team Zorin but by someone who generously gave up their time to provide it. I suspect it is because it is a phpBB made forum that is causing the issue. Team Zorin were hoping to create a new Forum, similar in look and feel to Stack Exchange - but it does cost to run a forum website. Ultimate Edition Oz forum folded due to lack of funding. :(

I laud the volunteers who keep projects like this one alive. I am saddened by the lack of funding. Other than "purchasing" the Ultimate Edition again, is there any other way of making a donation? I realize that will not be enough to reopen the forum, but every little bit helps.

Is the problem with funding for the Forum with hosting it or with paying someone/some people to do the maintenance of the forum software?

The forum here isn't under threat - I was speaking of Ultimate Edition - a different distribution altogether - a spin-off of Ultimate Edition which was born in the US:

(It would appear that Ultimate Edition OZ name is being taken in vain by a totally different kind of organisation that has nothing to do with Linux:

Its become a spam blog.
