Shutdown and mount issues!

Anyone else requiring password to mount drives or even shut down the machine? I have done some delving but it may require some amendments to scripts - not something for a standard user to attempt! Having browsed the net I understand that Ubuntu (Canonical) are moving to 'systemd' from 'sysvinit' - this is fine for a working environment (preventing shut-down of machine when other users logged on) but utterly stupid for a single home user! Have raised the question on launchpad.

Bizarrely, this issue has 'resolved' itself - weird!
