Hello

My HP laptop has Validity finger print reader and it doesn't seem to behave correctly in configuring for finger prints.

Command: lsusb shows the following:

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 10f1:1a28 Importek
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:0020 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 138a:0005 Validity Sensors, Inc. VFS301 Fingerprint Reader
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 03f0:231d Hewlett-Packard Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth Combo
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 046d:c52b Logitech, Inc. Unifying Receiver
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:0020 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Using the Enroller Finger Print interface seems to only take the first finger print read and then doesn't read any more finger prints.

Any idea on how to get the Enroller to proceed further?

I even tried using the 'fingerprint-gui' tool but it seems to have the same problem, failing to read 2nd, 3rd, and 4th finger prints.

Thanks,

Patrick

Looks like HP have deliberately made it non-Linux friendly!:

Fingerprint readers are produced by 3rd party hardware suppliers who only write Windows Drivers. The answer:
