Installer crashing - Samsung R590 laptop

I have a 2010 Samsung R590 laptop with 4 Gig RAM, a intel i5 processor and nVidia Geforce graphics chipset.

I have installed the Zorin ISO on a USB Stick and can boot from it and run it successfully. When I try to install the installer crashes just after asking for the partition information. It actually makes the changes to the partition but the installation goes no further, instead crashing out.

Any ideas? Could it be that the usb install of the ISO is faulty or perhaps a known issue with the Samsung laptop?

Thanks

Is this dual-boot or Zorin only? What OS came with the Notebook? ;) :D

It has Windows 7 Home running on it.

Have you turned off the fast boot feature on Windows 7?
Windows Fast boot locks down the drive.

Do you think that might cause the installer to crash?

Yes, it could because it cannot proceed with the Drive held in stasis by Windows.

Have you shrunk your C:\ drive to make space for Zorin?

Changing the Fast Boot made no difference.

Yes when the install starts I get as far as partitioning the C Drive which I do. I am setting 350 gig for windows and the rest approx 200 gig to Zorin.

TitanUK, could you peruse Swarfendors Unofficial guide to Zorin (Namely, installation) here:
https://app.box.com/s/sp7uzb7r2o731g7jkn6tcb8gxvtz6gvy
Past page 10, I think.
I wonder if your EFI partition got deleted one the installer crashed the first time. Restoring that partition may resolve. May... So you might checkl if that partition is missing. EDIT: See below, as well.
In the meantime, I will do some digging and see if I can find anything. I am not familiar of any Samsung Specific issues. But then, it's not as if I know all the bugs out there, either.
A 2010 notebook is a bit old... I wonder if Zorin 15 is too heavy for it. Have you tried Zorin Lite or Zorin 12.4 Lite LTS?

EDIT: I found this bug report which leads to this "solution"

Ubiquity is what the LiveCD portion uses.
