Zorin won't hibernate properly

Bodrey

Instead of powering down like I expect Zorin to do when I tell it to Hibernate I get this...

<a href="http://s903.photobucket.com/albums/ac240/Bodrey31/?action=view&amp;current=Hibernate.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac240/Bodrey31/Hibernate.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Has anyone else got this message?

Also, has anyone had all of the menu items appear twice?

Hi,

try changing to "Suspend" rather than "Hibernate", there seems to be different thoughts on how to solve the issue!!.

This is just a quick fix!.

OK, but then how do I bring it out of Suspend mode? I tried every button on the keyboard including the power button. Nothing "wakes it up"...? I ended up having to power cycle my laptop.

Hi bodrey,

can you tell us if you are using a PS2 or USB keyboard, or is it a notebook??.

Here is something for you to begin with:

Hi,

I found a way (I think/hope!) using Ubuntu Tweak to stop it locking the screen:

Ubuntu Tweak_002.png
Ubuntu Tweak_002.png (78.12 KiB)

If you look at the pic, just take out the 3 ticks in the section "Power Manager Settings".

I'm assuming you're clicking on 'Desktop Recovery', no? Strangely enough, I don't have that option in Ubuntu Tweak. Under the 'Desktop' category I only have Compiz Settings and Desktop Icon Settings to choose from. I must be missing a package or something(?) I'm running the latest version of UT so it's not that...

Hi Bodrey,

I can only assume you have the same version of UT as me??, anyway, you should find it under U Tweak in System > Power Manager Settings!!.

Install the "getdeb repo" and then do an update!!. (download the package and install it with "gdebi" or Ubuntu software manager)

I installed the getdeb repo and updated... no change in Ubuntu Tweak. The setting for Desktop Recovery is just not there. The version I'm running is 0.5.14 - the latest version according to their web site. I must be missing a package or something... don't understand why those options are missing.

Hi Bodrey,

we have the same version of UT and I cannot think as to why your version doesn't have the same options as me!.

Do you have the full version of Zorin installed; or the Lite version??. :?:

I am not at home at the moment, I will look at the situation when I get home sometime this evening!!.

I'm pretty sure I downloaded the standard (core) version of Zorin. Perhaps that is why. Could be missing something that comes with a beefier distro.

Hi Bodrey,

all I can find is if you check that there are no "recommended and suggested" packages missing from "gnome-system-tools".

Open Synaptic and type gnome tools and then right click on the above package and see if there is anything else you can add, I cannot find another solution to your problem apart from re-installing UT!!.

Regards Wolfman :D

You can also download it from here, you will have to un-install the one you have on board first!!:

I uninstalled UT and downloaded the latest .deb but when I launch it I get this: "Dependency is not satisfiable: gir1.2-unique-3.0". It won't let me install it.

Hey Wolfman,
Will this getdeb thing also be useful for zorin lite users? (since it has no gnome I guess?). And what ubuntu version is Zorin 5.2 based on?

Getdeb is for all (afaik) Ubuntu versions okay. Zorin 5.2 is based on U10.10.

For U Tweak go here:

Hi,

swarfendor437 is correct, 5.2 is based on 11.04 and U tweak version 0.5.14-1 should work on it!!.
