[HELP] Keyring and VirtualOS Box

Hi,

I mistakenly placed a different keyring password than my login password. I want to change my keyring password to match my login. How do I do that? I cannot change anything on the passwords and encryption setting.

I use VirtualOS Box to install windows xp. But when I run it after installation the win xp gets BSOD and doesn't start up. I use a vostro 1700, I understand that if I install win xp only on my laptop I have to use ATA settings because it doesn't run on AHCI. So I switched to ATA because I thought it might solve my problem under zorin os. To my surprise a "READ Error" comes up in ATA setting and grub/ zorin cannot boot. So I reinstalled Zorin Os with ATA setting as default, after installation I still get "Read Error".

Does that mean that I cannot boot Zorin on ATA setting at all?

Thank you in advance.

Hi puychiat,

here is a solution for your keyring problem:

http://www.ubun2.com/question/392/how_c ... ord_ubuntu

If you have nothing of value under Windows or ZorinOS, I would simply re-install both of them side by side, select ATA and first install Windows and then ZorinOS, make sure you format your hard drive completely before you start, by that I mean; create your partitions in advance and select them manually when doing the install!!.

Maybe you can find an answer to your other problem here:

Thanks for the reply Wolfman. I just needed advice from someone who is familiar with the OS. :) Was gonna try to run full Zorin and virtual run windows xp coz windows 7 on the virtual box seems pretty slow. I was having difficulty running some software with playonlinux.

Thank you very much! :D

Nevermind sir. I figured it out. Thanks so much!

Here's how:
1) Download the Intel Matrix Storage Manager here:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Prod...=2101&lang=eng

2) Once you download the file, run it with a -a switch:
iata76_enu.exe -a
This will NOT install the Matrix Storage Manager. What this will do is run the installer, and ONLY EXTRACT the files to C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager. Again, this does NOT install anything.

I saw this on your link. I was wondering if you know how to run the executable with -a switch? I spent some time trying to figure it out and I really have no idea on how to do it.

Thanks again. I know it's probably asking way too much since it's a windows command. but if you know I just need to know how to and it would really help a lot.

Thank you so much.

Hi,

I am not quite sure what you mean by a "Switch", normally under Windoze; you just need to double click an "exe" file and it will run!!.

Could you explain a little more please!.

You can run Windows XP with AHCI enabled in the BIOS. However if you have these two things you can integrate your AHCI driver to Windows XP installation disc.

You will need to have the AHCI driver for your motherboard and the original Windows XP disc. Then follow the link http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm

nLite will allow you to make your own custom installation disc. So you can package whatever driver you would.
