Changed my old 4:3 Monitor for a 16:9. I can't change the aspect using display in settings so I used this method.

all worked well until stage 4, apparently this file does not exist.

How do I make my new settings permanent in Zorin 12.3 64 bit?

Thanks.

OK can you try booting into advanced mode? Be sure you have Internet connection before proceeding. On boot press left shift key when you see blue frame to reveal GRUB menu. Choose second item then the lower of the two options that show after that. When menu appears, choose DPKG to check for any missing packages. Upon completion of DPKG shut the machine down. Don't select Continue. Then reboot.

Pressed the left shift and no advanced menu appeared.

Finston Pickle, your post came at the right time to confirm what I had been researching. Thank you.

I have managed to get the display functioning correctly by adding these two lines to my .profile file.

xrandr --newmode "1360x768_60.00" 84.75 1360 1432 1568 1776 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync

xrandr --addmode VGA-1 1360x768_60.00
