Zorin Lite 12.3 won't update

Hi, I am trying to update my Zorin Lite since two weeks ago, It loads all the latests updates, even latest kernel, which I don't understand if it is the kernel itself or just the headers (and off topic: If I could turn it back ). .. anyway when I click on "install now" a littel window seems to do the work but it suddenly desapear and the update isn't done.

I have set the ubuntu mirror, instead of my local mirror

Update: Partial Solution: Selecting Just the Base Zorin updates at first. Then in another round the "other updates".. I am leaving the kernel for the last, but wait for a reply here to avoid making mistakes about it.

I leave this post just in case somebody else has the same problem.

Hello. Thank you for your reply, my computer is this DualCore Intel Pentium E5300, 2600 MHz (13 x 200)
motherboard: MSI G31TM-P21 (MS-7529) (2 PCI, 1 PCI-E x16, 2 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Video, Gigabit LAN)

I have succeded in updated. Din't want to updated kernel, due to the questions I left in the original post.

I run on y HDD SMART test from "disk" says it has 192 errors. It says it is in the thereshold and still good.

Regardin this matter I wanted to ask something, but it will be an off topic, Does SMART TEST mark the bad sectors? until I can buy a new one.

Thank you! . I will open another topic regarding bad sectors issue , to avoid messing things here.
By the way what do you tell me about Kernel Will I install a new One if I accept new kernels headers? I cannot attach a screenshoot , because I cannot see anything in the "update manager", the list doesn't show (but ther are 63 Mb to dowload)

Hi my friend

.

after install you need to see the pop up

over the past period more than one community member (included me) found the sofware updater no longer working. I re-installed a earlier backup with an older kernel to do away the issue.

perhaps a previous post will help

I haven't blocked it - it is because it is a 'Global Announcement' - it locks automatically. I made it Global so people visiting can see it. If after updating the kernel you notice the glowing 'Z' during boot becomes squashed you know you are heading for a 'crash'. ;) :D

same problem, once again... first, updater doesn't notify me about updates, then after presing "accept" buttom it closes....."main server " is set.
I have choosen to unmark "other applications", same problem, also unmarking "kernel " options.. so in order to work I have to mark only "zorin base". I hope developer check this updater , it always gives troubles.
In general latetely I am experiencing problems with zorin lite 12.3

Can you open up Synaptic Package Manager and click on Edit | Fix Broken Packages to see if anything missing? or alternatively open a terminal and enter:

Code:
sudo dpkg --configure -a

or

Code:
sudo apt-get install --fix-missing
(https://askubuntu.com/questions/462690/ ... ful#462751)

lastly enter recovery mode, start networking then once back to recovery menu after networking started, run dpkg to see if any packages are missing.

Hello Thank you for your answers.
I realized about the broken packages when I got a red Sign Which led me to synaptic manager And I could find the Broken packages and fixed this problem.

Sorry for my delay in answering you.

However I must be truly I was facing freezing problems and I wanted to try another distro called "Mx" for a change until Z 15 is done. I also run a deep SMART test with an app provided from its Live session and there aren't many bad sectors on my hard drive (this is an explanation of what I think can be happening regardin lack of stability). The result says the disk is ok .Anyway those sectors already have been marked before, so the system wouldn't writte in it . I wonder if those froozing issues are due to one of my RAM memory modules. Can it be bad working? (I bought and used RAM Module-whitch hasn't been use for long time- from a friend of mine last year).

Have you removed them and used an Eraser on the contacts and reseated/swapped round? Are they the same speed rating as your existing RAM modules?

Hi ! Yes I have done all of that before, thank you so much for the suggestion.
Yes it is the same speed and brand of my existing module, however it seems and older model , fisicaly it is "taller".

Well if it is just a single module it could be an issue if it isn't paired with an exact same RAM module - you mentioned it is physically taller so it's circuitry may also be different. Faulty module on the RAM possibly?

hello! It is just another model, the circuits fits ok, and the RAM is the same pair. 2 GB , same frecuency, so in Bios I see 800 ghz, it think.
