I've been thinking about buying one of the mini laptops that run either Windows CE or Android OS's. WIll these small machines function well with Zorin lite?

Hi,

my advice is to buy the smallest notebook you can find and NOT a NETBOOK, a netbook has no CD drive; mostly a small HDD; cheap graphics chip and an Atom CPU. (don't be taken in by the word Atom, they are small CPU's and mostly only 1.6GhZ) Often they also have only 1 or 2 GB RAM if you are lucky!!. As a toy they are okay but for serious work; forget it!!.

Whether Zorin Lite will work remains to be seen as I cannot tell you, ZL works on my Packard Bell Notebook no problem. (Dual Core CPU, 4 GB RAM, ATI HD Grapics Chip)

Thanks guys but I don't think I was clear on what mini I was talking about. I'm thinking something like one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-7-inch-Mini ... 3a6ef0a3dd or http://www.ebay.com/itm/FUJITSU-LIFEBOO ... 3f1219660d . I understand that the machine will be limited, just wanting an on-the-go web machine. I'm not looking to replace a full sized machine, just another toy.

it really depends on the ystem you are wanting to install it on...
most "Windows CE or Android OS" mini computer run using the ARM processor ... and you can only get zorin in 32 bit or 64 bit .... so to be safe I would say NO it will not work ...

also in the post above they say look at getting a pc with the Intel Atom processor ... is because it is 32 but ... and is the smallest weakest machine you could get Zorin to work correctly on.

your link does not take me to a computer so I can't look at it to tell you .. sorry ..
support for Zorin
ARM = NO
32 = yes
64 = yes

+1

I have installed Zorin 5.2 core in two mini laptops with atom processor and 1gb ram (one acer aspire one D250 and a mini futjitsu siemens), and zorin run perfectly with everything working smoothly).

Thanks, guys. That answers my question. I never concidered the processor needing to be 32 bit. I'll look for a small machine with the Atom. I'm wanting small size, smaller than my Aspire One.
