Hi.
A new problem which may.. (or may not) be the answer to many of my webserver setup woes.

I thought Id do an Apache status check

Code: Select all
sudo service apache2 status

and this is what was reported..

It seems that it has been searching for my sites in another area..

This shows it is looking in Home

Code: Select all
Warning: DocumentRoot /home/www/html/mysite2/public_html does not exist

because I have placed them in..

Code: Select all
var/www/html/mysite1/public_html    -      var/www/html/mysite2/public_html

Well I took it all back to basics and redid all the hosts, folders etc in html and it is all back to working. I think somehow with all my messing around changing things chasing an outcome, it got corrupt somewhere.

Anyway all back to normal now with it resolving using the outside IP#.

There is only one thing I need to know and can't seem to find anything definitive, it whether the folders in www/html/ have to be named mysite or mysite.com using the extension. Also the .conf files as they have to mirror what those folders are.

I ask because, whilst I am getting to the server from outside, I am still not getting to the actual folders of each site.

I have checked all the addresses many times and they all correspond correctly being the same on the site folder, the name of the .conf file and in the contents of the .conf file.

Anyway back on track.. Which is good :-)

Hi,
Yes it is 99% resolved but I am doing final testing and then will close this thread and open a new post with a definitive tutor on one way how to get a webserver going on Zorin 15.

It's been a long haul..
