Hi, running a Dell studio 1555 with an additional belkin F9L1101v1 usb dongle. From the moment I turn on the computer it see's the wireless connection, but upon trying to connect I just get my one green and one gray sphere with the blue swirl chasing it's tail. I've tried using the windows wireless driver installation with each of the .inf files located on the cd. Upon initial install it said each failed, then on the second try, it said that the drivers were installed. I'm trying to get the dongle to work because the old wifi card was never really reliable. The poor thing tries and tries but to no avail. Ah, and before the recommendation found here viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1511, know that i tried that and didn't even GET a "eth1"....I got an "eth0." So that's it. the original wifi doesn't work so i'd like to install this dongle but that doesn't seem to be working either. the computer recognizes my wireless connection but won't connect and just times out.

Hi,

for the drivers, click on the link at the top of the page if you need the drivers!.

http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/n ... _F9L1101v1

For ndiswrapper:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiD ... diswrapper

Try using ndiswrapper, windows wireless is already installed, follow the instructions on the "ndiswrapper how-to".

Another complete "How-To":

Let the computer boot normally without the dongle.

Then plug the dongle, open a terminal and write:

Code:
dmesg

And post here the results.
